Today, Karim Group officially opens the doors to two new concepts within the historic House of Tan Yeok Nee: Jing Studio by day and Bar Kap by night.
Joining the House alongside Loca Niru, our contemporary fine dining destination helmed by Chef Shusuke Kubota, these new experiences mark another chapter in reimagining one of Singapore’s storied landmarks through hospitality, culture, and craftsmanship.
Once the private residence of prominent Teochew businessman Tan Yeok Nee, the House now brings together distinct concepts that honour its heritage while offering modern experiences within its historic walls.
By day, Jing Studio offers an intimate and contemporary tea experience within a calm sanctuary dedicated to the ceremonial craft of tea brewing. Heritage brewing techniques are thoughtfully reinterpreted through modern presentation, alongside a refined selection of teas paired with bespoke handcrafted snacks.

As evening falls, the House transforms into Bar Kap – a cocktail concept inspired by the “Kapitan”, a title historically associated with leadership within the community. Imagined as the Kapitan’s private rooms now opened to the public, each cocktail corresponds to an artefact from the House’s collection, taking guests on a journey through the stories and eras that shaped this remarkable space over time.
Together with Loca Niru’s contemporary Japanese French dining experience, the House of Tan Yeok Nee now offers guests a journey from day to night — through tea, cocktails, and cuisine, all within one storied destination.
We look forward to welcoming you into the House.
